My first article

I thought writing my first newspaper would be easy, but it was also hard. The hardest part for me was to look up information and sources. My paper was about being a vegetarian, and how one might get there. After interviewing people about being a vegetarian, I fully believe it is the healthiest way to be.

Journalism is a dangerous job

This semester, Ms.Turner taught us how dangerous journalism is. She showed us a lot of people who risked their lives just to report. For example, Daniel Pearl was a journalist for the Wall Street Journal. He wrote about iranian pop music. He was kidnapped by a group that called themselves National Movement for the Restoration of Pakistani Sovereignty and he was eventually beheaded. There is a movie based on the book his wife wrote, A Mighty Heart.  Lasantha Wickramatunga was a journalist who was assassinated in January 2009. He was anti-government. He wrote his own obituary and declared "When finally I am killed, it will be the government that kills me."  CPJ (committee to protect journalists) protects journalists worldwide and raises awareness since 1981. I think journalism is a great job if you dont put yourself in danger. You are informing people, but sometimes the things that people need to hear about most are the same things that can get you in danger because you wrote about it.

What I learned in journalism last year

Last year in journalism I learned how to interview people and learn about their stories. We watched a film  called Shattered Glass about the real life fabricator Stephen Glass. He made up so many stories that cost him his job, friends and people who trusted him. I learned about different leads and how they would go with each situation. We learned about the pyramid that can help us put the most important parts of the story first and the least important last. I was faced with tough questions and had to pick the most ethical choice. I was given questions and had to say my opinion on it. I learned editorial writing. For example,  we wrote a letter to a young girl who asked a newspaper if letter was real, but we were faced with a  challenge because you cant lie in a newspaper, but you don't want to break her heart. I learned about unnecessary words, which words to cut out to make the sentence shorter.

Weight Loss Not Affected By Number Of Food Choices

I agree because it is a known fact that calories are the most important things in weight loss, whether it is candy or fruit.

Kids more likely to be active if their friends are

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-57442888-10391704/kids-more-likely-to-be-active-if-their-friends-are/

I agree with it, because kids usually just want to follow their friends around and do what they do, and they might also be playing a game that causes them to be active.

Willpower Is Not a Factor In Obesity, Lack of Sidewalks is

http://www.baycitizen.org/blogs/pulse-of-the-bay/obesity-report-iom-self-control-health/

I disagree with the article. It is more than just not moving enough, or not having enough sidewalks. You still need self control, and it is up to you to make exercise a priority.
